Microsoft has announced the launch of a new, AI-powered Bing search engine and Edge browser, aimed at improving the search experience for billions of users worldwide. The new tools, designed as an "AI copilot for the web," integrate search, browsing, and chat into one unified experience that can be invoked from anywhere on the web. The new Bing offers improved search results for simple queries and more comprehensive answers in a new sidebar. Bing also includes an interactive chat feature for more complex searches, and the ability to generate content to inspire creativity.

The Edge browser has also been updated with new AI capabilities and a refreshed design, including new functionalities such as chat and compose. The Edge Sidebar allows users to ask for summaries of lengthy reports and offers help with composing content, adapting to the web page being viewed.
The new Bing experience is powered by a next-generation OpenAI large language model, customized specifically for search and taking learnings from ChatGPT and GPT-3.5. The model is faster, more accurate, and more capable, with Microsoft's proprietary Prometheus model allowing for more relevant and targeted results. AI has also been applied to Bing's core search ranking engine, leading to a significant jump in relevance and accuracy.
Users can preview the new Bing and Edge at Bing.com, and are encouraged to ask questions, give feedback, and try out the new features. However, there is a waitinglist.
